Gon-KiRin, the Dragon, Rides to Maker Faire Detroit

Gon-KiRin, the fire-breathing mobile art installation by Ryan Doyle and Teddy Lo, arrived at Maker Faire Detroit in the rain Wednesday night.   The journey started in downtown Detroit at the Russell Industrial Center and arrived two-and-a half-hours later in Dearborn.   The rain started about halfway along the route.   The dragon was accompanied by a dozen or more cyclists from MouseTrap and others who served as the eyes and ears of the dragon.   It was an impromptu urban parade, which was exciting to be part of, and a beautiful experience of its own.

Nat Wilson-Heckathorn captured the move on video:

Here's the dragon today, all put together, and breathing fire.
